Description

Traditionally, a Secret Santa is arranged among friends, coworkers, or family members during the holidays as a way to exchange gifts. Everyone puts their name and ideas of what to get them into a draw and once all the names are in, everyone randomly picks a slip of paper with someone else's name on it. On Christmas (or another time set by the organizers), everyone meets up and swaps gifts. That way, no one is excluded and you don't have to buy 20 gifts for 20 people--everyone partaking in it receives one gift per person and buys/makes one gift per person.

EmoteSecretSanta takes the same concept and puts it into place in the emote community. Everyone who wants to participate provides a list of a few things they might want to see pixelized and the organizers will randomly assign each emoticonist to make an emote from the list. In the end, everyone will have made a present for someone and received a present from someone else. Heart

How long has it been? 3+ years? Seems about right.

Work and school are currently NOT kicking my butt too hard, so I am back. For how long? I do not know. But I am here now, and I've missed you guys if any of you are still alive. ;P

Oh, P.S. If any of you have commissions open and would like to share them, drop them down below. Part of the reason I have come back is because I have been commissioning a lot of artists, so I check dA pretty frequently now.

NaNoEmo


So. I bet you're all wondering why I haven't been pumping out more emotes for NaNoEmo. My computer broke last weekend. :lol: I have a crappy spare computer, but the lag is awful and it's hard to...produce things on it. I'm still around, but. Goodness.

When my computer gets back from the computer-doctor, I might make, like...late NaNoEmo entries. They'll be labelled as something different. But I don't like not finishing the 30-day NaNoEmo. It bugs me. :saddummy:

For those of you who don't know, Emote Secret Santa is a gift exchange that I have had my hand in hosting every year (excluding last year) for the past five or six years. Emoticonists make a present for another random emoticonist who entered based on a theme that random emoticonist chooses. It doesn't have restrictions based on religion, location, etc., so if you want to know more, check out the journal:

Assignment Notes Have Been Sent! If you have not received a sign up note yet, please note the group or BlissfullySarcastic!

Remember, Saturday, December 19th at 11:59 pm GMT is the gift deadline. Reminder notes will be sent out periodically until you send in your present. Have fun!

The Aim


EmoteSecretSanta is an emote gift exchange that opens up every winter. Every participant will make one gift for another participant, chosen at random, and will receive a gift in return. We hope to spread a little joy this holiday season and that we can get everyone in the emote community a gift this holiday season! :heart:


Keep in mind: You do not have to be any sort of religion to take part in EmoteSecretSanta, nor do you have to be a master at making emoticons. We just hope you come with an eagerness to try to make the best present you can for whoever you're assigned.

Rules

  1. Anyone who is interested in EmoteSecretSanta, send a sign up note to the group. This note should include information, like possible themes or ideas for a present, links to any emote OCs you have, and any other relevant information (like if you live in a warmer climate or celebrate Hanukkah instead of Christmas).
  2. Once the sign ups are closed (dates below), I will send each of the participants a note detailing which emoticonist (chosen at random) they have been selected to make a present for. Keep in mind: You may be asked to draw anything from a snowman to a dinosaur to a fire-breathing dragon, so be prepared to take on any theme an emoticonist may throw at you.
  3. Once you have received your assignments, you will have to make a work containing an emote and at least one of the artist's themes. When you have completed the task, upload the finished work to Sta.sh and send a note to the group. Do not talk to others about your assignment; we don't want to ruin the surprise!
  4. Once all the presents have been collected, one from each emoticonist, a journal will be compiled. It will be uploaded for everyone to see on Christmas day! :happybouce:


Dates and Deadlines

Sunday, November 29th - Sign-up deadline
All sign-up notes must be received by Sunday, November 29th at 11:59pm GMT (UK Time).

Wednesday, December 2nd - Assignments Sent
By December 2nd, 11:59pm GMT, you should have received a gift from the group with your assignment. If you have not received an assignment note by this time, please contact the group and I will get things sorted!

Arrow left Saturday December 19th - Gift Deadline
All gifts must be submitted to your Sta.sh and sent in a note to the group before December 19th at 11:59 pm GMT (UK Time). Do not send the present to me in any other form. We don't want to spoil the surprise by having the present in your gallery early!

Reminders will be sent to you regularly until I have received your gift.

Thursday December 25th - Presents revealed
Some time on Christmas day, all presents will be revealed in a journal on this group. I will send notes out when it's posted. :eager: After this time, you can upload all your presents to your actual deviantART gallery.
